Medford Police A suspect on transitional leave from prison is in custody after attempting to elude Medford Police Officers and crashing his vehicle late last night. Around midnight, an MPD officer observed a vehicle traveling in the continuous left-turn lane on Crater Lake Avenue. The driver stopped at a green light and failed to maintain their lane. The officer initiated a traffic stop at Crater Lake Avenue and Grand Avenue and contacted the visibly intoxicated driver. As the officer spoke with him, the suspect suddenly fled. Officers pursued the vehicle eastbound on East McAndrews Road to northbound Brookdale Avenue. The driver ran a stop sign at Lone Pine Road and struck landscaping boulders, causing the vehicle to flip and land upside down in a yard. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly detained while crawling out of the wreckage. He sustained only minor injuries, and no other occupants were in the vehicle. Man targeting campus-area residences sentenced in cases

Eugene Police Department On January 16, 2025, 37-year-old Thomas Matthew Dunlap of Eugene was sentenced to 36 months in the Oregon State Department of Corrections. Dunlap was convicted of Burglary in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree (occupied dwelling), Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, and Theft in the Third Degree.  Dunlap is known to consistently target campus-area residences belonging to college students. In this case, where Dunlap was charged and convicted through Lane County Circuit Court, Dunlap accessed the laundry room of an apartment complex on two different occasions. In an attempt to gain access to a storage unit located inside the laundry room, he used a torch-lighter to burn the door before stealing a ladder from the building. In another recent case where Dunlap was charged and convicted through Eugene Municipal court, Dunlap was caught on camera attempting to look through the windows of female residents in Eugene’s west university area.
